Job Description:
This role is designed to foster connectivity and trust within targeted communities in Barnet, with a primary focus on increasing awareness of cancer prevention, early signs, and screening. The successful candidate will work towards reducing cancer inequalities in the area by promoting cancer awareness and understanding among community members.
The Health Ambassador will engage with local communities, including Eastern European, South Asian, and Black African communities, to raise awareness about cancer prevention and screening. This involves identifying and addressing concerns and practical barriers to accessing health screening among these groups.
Main Objectives:
- Raise awareness about cancer prevention, early signs, and symptoms among target communities in Barnet.
- Identify and deliver practical solutions to address concerns and barriers to accessing health screening among low-uptake groups.
- Support communities in increasing their understanding and ability to prevent ill health and manage wider health conditions.
Requirements:
- Connections with one or more of the target communities in Barnet.
- Awareness of wider health inequalities in Barnet.
- Experience working or living well with priority communities in Barnet.
- Strong interpersonal and listening skills.
- Digital skills to share information and promote events.
Estimated Salary: £27,010 per annum, pro-rata for part-time post-holders. The salary is based on the location and requirements of the role.
