Job Summary

This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated Health and Safety professional to join our team in Glasgow. As a Health and Safety Manager, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and well-being of employees within the organisation.

About the Role

In this pivotal position, you will be at the forefront of ensuring the well-being of our employees and fostering a culture of safety throughout the Company. This role will be client-facing, requiring high levels of integrity and professionalism, strong attention to detail and accuracy.

Your Key Responsibilities

  1. Build, manage and develop a competent, proactive Health & Safety team around the business needs.
  2. Design, implement, and maintain comprehensive health and safety policies, procedures, and programs.
  3. Ensure policies and practices meet legal requirements and industry standards.
  4. Monitor and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, laws, and guidelines.
  5. Conduct regular risk assessments and safety audits to identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions.
  6. Develop and deliver training programs and workshops for employees on health and safety practices and procedures.
  7. Promote awareness and provide guidance on health and safety matters to all staff members.
  8. Lead investigations into workplace accidents, incidents, and near-misses.
  9. Prepare detailed reports and analysis and recommend preventive measures to avoid recurrence.
  10. Conduct regular inspections and audits to ensure compliance with safety standards.
  11. Report findings and work with relevant departments to implement improvements.
  12. Develop and maintain emergency response plans and procedures, coordinate and conduct regular emergency drills and exercises.
  13. Act as the primary point of contact for health and safety matters within your region.
  14. Consult with regulatory bodies, industry groups, and external stakeholders, as necessary.
  15. Communicate effectively with management, employees, and contractors on health and safety issues.
  16. Maintain accurate records of health and safety activities, incidents, and training sessions.
  17. Prepare and submit required reports to regulatory authorities and company management.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A minimum NVQ Level 6 Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety.
  • Professional certification such as NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a health and safety management role, overseeing HSE Advisors.
  • A minimum of 5 years' experience within civils in the utility industry.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Experience in conducting risk assessments and safety audits.
  • In-depth knowledge of health and safety legislation and compliance requirements.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with employees at all levels.
  • Ability to develop and deliver training programs.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Proficiency in using health and safety software and tools.
  • A valid UK Drivers Licence.
  • Willingness to travel to various locations when required.

Salary

The salary for this role is £65,000 per annum, plus a car allowance.
