A leading automotive manufacturing company is seeking a skilled Composite Design Engineer to join their team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and developing high-performance composite components for cutting-edge automotive projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Utilize surfacing and solid modelling approaches to create detailed 3D CAD models.
  2. Provide technical support and guidance during the manufacturing process to ensure components are produced with precision and adhere to design specifications.
  3. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of composite components into the vehicle design.
  4. Develop innovative and efficient composite structures and components for automotive applications, ensuring they meet safety, performance, and quality standards.
  5. Cover all aspects of Composite Design from 'clean sheet' concept schemes to detailed component design including inserts, tooling, assemblies and associated trim and bond jigging.

Requirements:

  1. Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
  2. A minimum of 3 years of experience in composite design within motorsport.
  3. Excellent knowledge of low volume composite and metallic manufacturing processes including prepreg layup, autoclave curing, CNC machining and additive manufacturing.
  4. In-depth understanding of composite materials, their properties, and their behaviour under different loading conditions.
  5. Proficient in using CAD software (Siemens NX preferred) and, in particular, complex surface modelling, to create detailed 3D models.
  6. Excellent knowledge of GD&T, drawing and assembly document creation.
