About the Role

Cancer Research UK is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Store Manager to join our trading team. As a Store Manager, you will be responsible for leading a team of paid staff and volunteers, guiding and inspiring them to achieve sales and fundraising targets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Recruit, retain, and develop a diverse shop team, providing guidance and support to ensure they are equipped to meet the needs of our customers and supporters.
  • Take ownership of the commercial running of the store, including display and merchandising, stock management, maintaining shop standards, store layout, sales, and income.
  • Lead by example, providing excellent customer and supporter service, and ensuring that all interactions are positive and engaging.
  • Maximize profit through effective cost control and sales, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce waste.
  • Create relationships with local communities and Cancer Research UK colleagues, building strong partnerships to drive fundraising and sales growth.
  • Organize and run creative fundraising events for the store, working with the team to achieve fundraising targets and exceed expectations.
  • Maintain compliance with health and safety, safeguarding, security, administration, and HR policies, ensuring that the store operates in a safe and secure environment.

Requirements

  • Experience of managing and inspiring a diverse team of people, with a proven track record of achieving sales and fundraising targets.
  • Comfort working within targets and motivating others to achieve those targets, with a strong focus on customer service and supporter engagement.
  • The ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Working knowledge of what makes great customer service, with a passion for delivering exceptional experiences.
  • Commercial awareness, with a strong understanding of the retail industry and the ability to analyze data to inform business decisions.
  • Knowledge of high street fashion retail, with experience of managing stock, displays, and merchandising.
  • Adaptability in changing situations, with the ability to work effectively independently and as part of a team.
  • An awareness of the price, value, and worth of items, with a strong understanding of the retail market.
  • Experience of retail management, with a proven track record of achieving sales and fundraising targets.
