As a Manufacturing Engineer at Reed, you will be responsible for leading significant improvements in operations and applying lean methodology to enhance product quality and manufacturing efficiency.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to ensure seamless integration of parts and products into production.
- Maintain safety, quality, production, and cost standards.
- Provide essential weld support including process, tooling, documentation, tool design, and implementation.
- Offer laser & press support; process development, and tooling support.
- Support other primary areas such as form tooling, tube bending, and machining fixtures.
- Manage new machinery specifications and implementation to support growth plans.
- Handle primary area change notes, set standard times & routings, and review for Design for Manufacture (DFM).
- Implement Standard Operating Procedures where necessary.
- Identify opportunities to reduce waste and engage in continuous improvement.
- Work closely with the primary team to sustain and improve processes and controls in existing production lines.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent, with a preference for Mechanical Engineering.
- Proven experience in weld support and laser & press support.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing Techniques.
- Strong problem-solving skills and knowledge of PFMEA, SPC, and Quality Control Techniques.
- Proficiency in CAD systems, Siemens NX preferred.
- Ability to work effectively with staff at all levels.
- Good understanding of ISO & OHSAS requirements.
- Excellent communication skills and customer-focused.
- Versatile and self-motivated, capable of working with minimal supervision.
