Child Protection Specialist

About the Role:
Caritas Recruitment is proud to support the NSPCC, a leading children's charity, in their recruitment of ChildLine Practitioners to join their team. As a Child Protection Specialist, you will play a vital role in empowering the public to protect children, providing emotional support, practical guidance, and help to anyone who thinks a child may be at risk of abuse.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide advice and assistance to the public via telephone, email, and text, taking ownership of each contact and assessing the risk to any child.
- Liaise with NSPCC's external child protection partners, including Children's Services and Police, to ensure prompt and effective action is taken to minimize the risk to any child.
- Develop and maintain up-to-date knowledge of child protection legislation and practical experience of child protection and welfare issues.
- Work collaboratively with the team to deliver a child-focused service, meeting demanding targets and deadlines.
Requirements:
- Experience in safeguarding children, ideally with a background in Domestic Violence/Domestic Abuse.
- Substantial and extensive experience in safeguarding children and young people.
- Driven by making a difference and committed to creating a culture that promotes safeguarding and the welfare of all children and adults at risk.
- Up-to-date knowledge of child protection legislation and practical experience of child protection and welfare issues.
- A passion for customer service and ability to collect, assess, and summarize essential information in written format.
- Good IT skills and ability to work quickly in a fast-paced national helpline environment.
