As a Weld Engineer, you will identify, evaluate, and resolve non-routine welding engineering problems as they relate to nontraditional manufacturing and repair work in an accurate, timely, and informed manner.
Proactively seek and accept responsibility for solving new and difficult welding engineering challenges, while appropriately assessing and managing risks.
Provide technical support and directions to a skilled labor force and to Weld Development Lab Technicians in support of materials, joining, testing, and evaluation.
Plan, support, and execute procedure and personnel qualifications in accordance with the applicable welding code and contract requirements.
Identify new and/or improved welding processes/techniques for improving EMD applications.
Work with design and manufacturing engineering to resolve materials joining issues before and during manufacturing and provide technical support to suppliers and customers.
Develop and manage materials joining work plans including schedules, budgets, and resource requirements to meet both EMD and project objectives.
Mentor other engineers in the area of expertise and assist with training and evaluation of less senior personnel.
Extensive knowledge of arc welding processes (FCAW, GMAW, GTAW, SAW, SMAW, and PTAW).
Knowledge and experience with at least one of the following welding codes (ASME Section III & IX, AWS, and NAVSEA).
Experience in working with carbon, low, high alloy, and stainless steels, nickel, and copper-based alloys, as well as dissimilar metal welding.
Prior experience as a welding, materials, or manufacturing engineer.
Must be a team player, an innovative thinker, and have a demonstrated commitment to quality and customer service.
