Job Title: R&D Strategy Director

We are seeking a highly skilled R&D Strategy Director to join our team at GlaxoSmithKline. As a key member of our R&D Strategy team, you will play a critical role in shaping the company's R&D strategy and driving innovation.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement R&D strategies that align with the company's overall business objectives.
  • Lead cross-functional teams to identify and prioritize R&D projects and initiatives.
  • Collaborate with senior leaders to develop and execute R&D strategies that drive business growth and innovation.
  • Provide strategic guidance on portfolio shape and mix, including portfolio growth and size.
  • Assess and develop sub-strategies for specific key enablers of R&D performance.
Requirements:
  • Proven experience in a dedicated strategy role, either in-house strategy or a top-tier strategy consulting firm.
  • Strong analytical skills, including the ability to manipulate complex data and propose and test hypotheses.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to engage senior stakeholders and lead matrix teams.
  • Ability to think strategically and dive deep into operational issues, moving quickly between the two levels of working with a sense of urgency.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in R&D or a related field, with a strong understanding of the competitive landscape.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas simply and compellingly.
  • Ability to manage ambiguity and develop clear, informed strategies from vast and complex datasets.
