Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced individual to join the Board of Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE) as a Member. HIE is an ambitious organisation with a vital role in supporting businesses and communities across the Highlands and Islands to build a greener, fairer, and more resilient region.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for setting strategic direction, key decision making, and effective governance. They will work closely with the Board to ensure that HIE's vision for a leading net zero region with a dynamic wellbeing economy is achieved.

Requirements

Applicants should have a strong understanding of the economic, cultural, and fiscal issues impacting on the Highlands and Islands. They should also have experience in strategy and long-term planning, as well as the ability to communicate, influence, and collaborate effectively.

Desirable Criteria

While not essential, it would be desirable for applicants to have knowledge of the wider context in which HIE operates, including net zero/green recovery, Fair Work, and Gaelic. They should also have an understanding of the housing agenda in the context of economic growth and be able to ensure the benefits of place-based inclusive growth across the entire region.
