About the Role

Fugro is seeking an experienced Senior Marine Environmental Scientist to join our team in either Portchester or Edinburgh's Heriot Watt University campus. This is a pivotal role, managing a team of Environmental Scientists, responsible for producing and checking high-quality technical reports, including habitat mapping and assessments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure work is of the highest standard and quality
  • Line management, training, and appraisals
  • Preparation of environmental technical reports using relevant statistical analysis of data and mapping software
  • Ensuring deadlines and budgets are met
  • Ensuring all activities are carried out to company-specific standards and are in line with our QHSSE policies

Requirements

  • BSc or MSc in Marine Science or Environmental Science or relevant equivalent
  • Experience of writing and quality control of interpretive reports
  • Line management experience
  • Experience of intertidal/nearshore/offshore environmental survey techniques (grab sampling, box core, drop-down video, and water samplers/profilers)
  • Good experience in video analysis, habitat mapping, and sensitive habitat assessments
  • Experience of marine macrofauna identification and in physical and chemical analysis
  • Experience of statistical analysis
  • Good Microsoft Office capabilities
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Proven ability to work to deadlines
