London, Greater London, United Kingdom Tower Hamlets Partnership Full time

About Tower Hamlets Partnership

Tower Hamlets is one of London's most diverse and vibrant boroughs, bringing together creativity, enterprise, and cultural life in a melting pot of eight square miles. We're a borough of contrasts, tackling tough challenges to make a real impact through rapid change.

We're changing – rapidly – with people making things happen through collaboration, passion, and pride. As an employer, we offer a generous annual leave package, competitive pension, and flexible working opportunities. For more information on why join us, please visit our staff benefits page.

About the Role

Join our Housing Options Accommodation Procurement Team as we procure good quality accommodation for homeless and potentially homeless households in line with relevant legislation. You will also be responsible for procuring accommodation for care leavers.

Your duties include working alongside Housing Officers, Through Care Services, the Children's Placement Team, Commissioning Services, and other partners and stakeholders. You will ensure properties procured are affordable, suitable, and compliant with legislation, conducting inspections in a professional and timely manner.

You should have excellent negotiation skills and provide high-level expert advice on property standards and costs associated with accommodation. Follow-up work and recommendations will be required following inspections.

A driving license is essential, and you will be required to carry out regular inspections of void and occupied properties, including temporary accommodation, commissioned services, and hostel/hotel accommodation. Procurement and inspection of properties and establishments will take place within and outside Tower Hamlets.

You should also have experience managing data and providing accurate and concise reports as needed.

Tower Hamlets' vision is that our residents are aspirational, independent, and have equal access to opportunities. We aim to create a dynamic, outcomes-based council using digital innovation and partnership working to respond to the changing needs of our borough. Our TOWER values are Together, Open, Willing, Excellent, and Respect.
