About the Role

Compass Community School Staffordshire is a secondary independent special school for boys aged 11-17 years old, catering to students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs (SEMH) and various Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). Our students come from diverse backgrounds and may have experienced significant trauma and adverse childhood experiences, with some requiring social care involvement.

The Opportunity

As a Higher Level Teaching Assistant at our school, you will work closely with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to provide tailored support to our students. Your responsibilities may include:

  • Supporting teachers in the classroom and delivering sessions with small groups of students
  • Working one-to-one with students or leading group activities
  • Managing classroom resources and materials
  • Accompanying students on trips and visits
  • Engaging with students during lunchtime or other activities
  • Assisting in managing escalated behaviors and ensuring student safety
  • Participating in therapy sessions or reflecting on challenging periods
  • Contributing to the development of the academic curriculum and extra-curricular activities
