About the Role

The Product Support Engineer/Assessor is a key role within Wabtec UK, responsible for delivering high-quality support services to our customers and ensuring that our products and services meet their expectations throughout the product life cycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct support activities for customers and products at Wabtec UK sites and customer locations, ensuring safe, efficient, and consistent delivery of services.
  • Collaborate with the Project Management team to deliver projects within budget and on time, ensuring accurate and concise records of work completed.
  • Ensure that all materials, parts, drawings, tooling, fixtures, and test equipment are fit for purpose and available prior to job commencement.
  • Plan and undertake assessments using the company's competency management system, ensuring ongoing compliance.
  • Develop and deliver training activities for internal and external customers to support team development and commercial opportunities.
  • Work with the Operations Manager to implement changes to the Field Service Competency Management system as required.

Quality, Health & Safety

  • Comply with company and statutory policies and procedures related to quality, health, safety, and environmental management.
  • Participate in health and safety management processes, using IT systems for reporting and investigation.
  • Ensure timely investigations and reports on failed or defective components, in line with policies and procedures.
  • Undertake briefings and training as required following quality escapes or identification of best practice.

Customer Focus

  • Identify revenue opportunities and report to the Operations Manager, particularly regarding customer training opportunities.
  • Deal with customer complaints, escalating as necessary via the Operations Manager.
  • Maintain positive working relationships with current and potential customers to uphold the company's reputation as a world-class supplier.

Continuous Improvement

  • Identify opportunities for improvement during service support work, increasing efficiency, reducing throughput time, and eliminating waste.
  • Implement and participate in 5S methodology in on-site and off-site operations, in conjunction with the PSE Coordinator and Lead Project Manager.
  • Actively participate in Wabtec group deployment of improvement initiatives, such as WMS, Competency Management Systems, and new technologies.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support for OE Contracts and aftermarket sections of Wabtec UK & Sisco's, as part of the Intelligent Asset Management Team.
  • Report general industry intelligence and competitor activity to the PSE Coordinator and Field Service Operations Manager as required.
