Position – Senior Engineering Authority (Electronic Warfare)

Operating from 12 locations across the UK, our team of over 1,400 professionals delivers specialized capabilities across air, land, sea, space, and cyber for military, security, and commercial clients globally.
The Tewkesbury branch of L3Harris is part of our ICI division, collaborating closely with UK Government and Security Agencies in areas such as crypto/cyber security, electronic warfare, counter-drone technologies, and situational awareness initiatives.
We are seeking a seasoned Engineering Leader with a track record of leadership and project execution to join our Engineering team, spearheading the delivery of a variety of innovative projects and products.

Role Responsibilities:
The key responsibilities of this position include:
- Providing technical leadership for products and projects, guiding a multidisciplinary team in the specification, construction, and delivery of advanced embedded systems across various domains, including Electronic Warfare, IP Communications Systems, and Intelligence Surveillance & Reconnaissance (ISR).
- Influencing the architectural design of intricate engineering solutions, drawing from diverse engineering disciplines such as analogue and digital electronics, RF, FPGA, embedded software, application software, user-interface, and mechanical solutions.
- Contributing to the development of technical proposals, bids, and supporting internal review, governance, and approval processes.
- Leading and motivating members of the Engineering, Project Management, and Commercial teams to achieve shared objectives.
- Mentoring engineers to foster skills development within the broader team.
Required Qualifications:
The Technical Authority role necessitates the following experience and qualifications:
- A senior-level engineer with a degree in Electronics, Communications, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Proven experience in leading and delivering projects and products.
- Experience in team leadership with the ability to influence and guide others.
- A passion for engaging with emerging technologies, often beyond immediate expertise, to address a wide array of challenges with innovative solutions.
- Capability to independently conduct research and exploratory tasks utilizing publicly available software and information sources.
Desirable Skills and Experience:
Specialized knowledge and experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Experience with Electronic Warfare products.
- Knowledge of communications and communication protocols (AM, FM, GSM, 4G/5G, etc.).
- RF design, analysis, or modeling expertise.
- Familiarity with IP networking and associated standards.
- Understanding of DSP techniques and applications.
- Experience with Machine Learning, including frameworks such as TensorFlow, Pytorch, Keras.
- Background in bidding and working within defense or government research.
- Published research papers or patents.
