About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Biomedical Scientist to join our Blood Transfusion team at North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in delivering a high-quality, safe, and efficient Blood Transfusion Service that prioritizes patient care and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise the blood transfusion laboratories and assist in the development of staff within a progressive department.
  • Develop and implement quality control procedures to ensure compliance with UKAS standards.
  • Collaborate with the Blood Transfusion Laboratory Manager, Transfusion Practitioners, and Consultant Pathologists to deliver a high-quality service.
  • Participate in the 24/7 rota for the Blood Sciences Laboratory.
Requirements
  • HCPC registration as a Biomedical Scientist.
  • IBMS Higher Specialist Diploma (Haematology/Blood Transfusion) / MSc in Biomedical Sciences / FIBMS status.
  • Evidence of ongoing CPD.
  • Sound knowledge of Blood Transfusion practice underpinned by theoretical and practical experience.
  • Competence and problem-solving in an automated environment.
  • Awareness of current professional issues.
  • Familiarity with ISO15189 systems and standards.
  • Broad understanding of Quality Control, good Quality Management, and Audit knowledge.
  • Good practical knowledge of health and safety issues.
