Job Overview


We are seeking an experienced Child Development Clinical Lead to join our team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to lead a multidisciplinary team of clinical psychologists, therapists, and other professionals in providing specialist psychological assessments and interventions for children with complex needs. The successful candidate will have a strong track record of delivering evidence-based practice, supervising junior staff, and contributing to service development and quality improvement initiatives.


Main Responsibilities


The Child Development Clinical Lead will be responsible for:



  • Providing clinical leadership and supervision to junior staff, including assistant psychologists, trainee psychologists, and band 7 colleagues;
  • Developing and implementing strategies to improve the quality and accessibility of psychological services for children and young people in Devon;
  • Collaborating with other agencies and stakeholders to ensure seamless service delivery and effective interagency working;
  • Contributing to the development and implementation of policies, procedures, and guidelines related to child development and mental health services;
  • Participating in research and audit activities to inform service development and quality improvement initiatives.

Person Specification


The ideal candidate will possess:



  • A professional doctorate in clinical psychology or equivalent masters-level qualification in clinical psychology if qualified before 1996;
  • Active registration as a practitioner psychologist with the HCPC;
  • Post-qualification specialist therapy/assessment training relevant to children and young people;
  • Post-qualification training or proven equivalent experience in supervision;
  • Experience of undertaking specialist psychological assessments and therapeutic interventions for children and young people with complex needs;
  • Experience of teaching and/or training;
  • Experience of delivering clinical supervision;
  • Experience, and/or training in diversity awareness and social inequality.

Salary and Benefits


The salary for this role is approximately £80,000 - £110,000 per annum, depending on experience. In addition to a competitive salary, we offer a range of benefits, including contributory pension scheme, generous annual leave entitlement, and access to employee assistance programs.
