About this role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Specialist Support Worker to join our team at Heathlands, a purpose-built centre for adults with profound and complex learning disabilities and Autism. As a Specialist Support Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals to live a full and active life based on their individual plans, wishes, and aspirations.

Key responsibilities

  • To provide high-quality support to individuals with complex needs, including personal care, medication administration, and domestic tasks.
  • To establish and maintain positive relationships with service users, families, and carers, promoting dignity and respect at all times.
  • To contribute to the development and implementation of TEACCH programmes for individuals with Autism.
  • To undertake monitoring observations of wellbeing or behaviour and share, record, and update care plans accurately.
  • To work collaboratively with colleagues to develop and maintain a safe and supportive environment.

About you

We are looking for a Specialist Support Worker who can demonstrate empathy, compassion, and a person-centred approach to supporting individuals with complex needs. You will have a strong understanding of learning disabilities and Autism, and be able to communicate effectively with service users using Total Communication methods.
