About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Engineer to join our Core Services Team at Barclays Bank UK PLC. As a Lead Engineer, you will be responsible for leading great engineering across our new platform services and products.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement data architectures, pipelines, and systems that enable the transfer and processing of durable, complete, and consistent data.
  • Develop and maintain data warehouses and data lakes that manage data volumes and velocity while adhering to security measures.
  • Collaborate with data scientists to build and deploy machine learning models.
  • Advise key stakeholders on functional and cross-functional areas of impact and alignment.
  • Manage and mitigate risks through assessment, in support of the control and governance agenda.
  • Demonstrate leadership and accountability for managing risk and strengthening controls in relation to the work your team does.
  • Collaborate with other areas of work to contribute to achieving business goals.
  • Create solutions based on sophisticated analytical thought, comparing and selecting complex alternatives.
  • Adopt and include the outcomes of extensive research in problem-solving processes.
  • Seek out, build, and maintain trusting relationships and partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.
Requirements
  • Strong experience using JVM-based languages and frameworks, CI/CD concepts.
  • In-depth knowledge and experience in at least one of host-based cloud computing (AWS / OpenShift, etc.).
  • Kafka.
