About the Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced leader to join our team as Head of Solutions Engineering, responsible for guiding high performing engineering teams, championing innovation, and overseeing solution design and implementation for a suite of online products generating over £70 million annually.
The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of academic publishing, particularly in digital content workflows, peer review systems, and online distribution platforms.
Key responsibilities include:
- Defining and executing the technical strategy for digital products and services supporting our Academic publishing portfolio.
- Heading our solution design and engineering functions, delivering scalable and resilient technology systems.
- Guiding R&D initiatives, integrating emerging tech into our academic services.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Nurturing technical excellence and ensuring delivery of world-class academic content to global users.
- Developing and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders, including authors, editors, and publishers.
- Mentoring and developing junior engineers, providing guidance on software development best practices.
Requirements
The successful candidate will possess:
- A deep understanding of academic publishing, particularly in digital content workflows, peer review systems, and online distribution platforms.
- Extensive experience in enterprise software development (Agile/DevOps), with great knowledge of software architecture and modern technology stacks.
- Proven success in managing large-scale software projects and designing scalable, resilient solutions.
