Medical Consultant

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Medical Consultant to join our team at Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust. As a Consultant in Acute Medicine, you will play a key role in providing high-quality patient care, teaching and training, and contributing to the department's clinical governance agenda.
Key Responsibilities- Provide high-quality consultant-delivered care to patients requiring our service, ensuring the highest standards of clinical care are met.
- Provide teaching and training at undergraduate and postgraduate level, and supervise and train the junior clinical team and our specialty doctors.
- Be proactive in the Department's clinical governance agenda and take on leadership roles to support continuous learning and improvement, thereby abiding by the clinical and corporate governance policies of the Trust.
- Liaise with clinicians and managers within and outside the Department to address any issues arising that may affect the service.
- Participate in relevant audit and quality assurance processes.
The Acute Medicine department at Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust is a dynamic department known for taking a proactive role in service development, quality improvement, and education and training. We have a strong leadership team and excellent working relationships with the hospital executive team.
We work collaboratively with a well-established multidisciplinary team structure in our clinical areas, with daily business MDT board rounds. Our emergency assessment ward receives excellent Friends and Family feedback, and our nursing staff maintain a strong, caring team approach in a busy, high turnover environment.
Requirements- Full GMC Registration (with licence to practice).
- CCT Specialist Registration or will obtain within 6 months of interview date.
- CESR.
- Minimum of English Level 2 (GCSE grade C or equivalent), IELTS or graduate of a UK Medical School.
- ATLS / APLS / ALS.
- Effective specialist clinical service.
- Experience of Audit and Management.
- Evidence of involving patients in practice.
- Evidence of innovative development and implementation of guidance.
- Proven ability to teach clinical skills within multi-disciplinary teams applying evidence-based knowledge.
- Evidence of relevant research, publications or presentations.
