About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Medical Microbiologist Consultant to join our team at Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our department, you will be responsible for providing expert clinical microbiology and infection control services to our patients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Liaise with clinicians, hospital staff, and other healthcare professionals to ensure effective diagnosis and management of patients with infectious diseases.
  • Participate in daily ward rounds and virtual ward rounds to provide expert advice and guidance on infection control and prevention.
  • Develop and implement guidelines and apps for the management of infection, with a focus on antimicrobial prescribing.
  • Contribute to an ongoing medical audit programme and participate in multidisciplinary clinical audit.

Person Specification

We are looking for a candidate with the following qualifications and experience:

  • Full and Specialist registration with the General Medical Council (GMC).
  • Primary Medical Qualification (MB CHB or equivalent).
  • FRCPath or equivalent qualification.
  • Experience in clinical microbiology and infection control.
