We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Consultant to join our Acute Medicine team at Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our department, you will be responsible for providing high-quality consultant-delivered care to patients requiring our service.

Main Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be expected to:

  • Provide high-quality clinical care to patients, ensuring the highest standards of clinical care are met;
  • Teach and train undergraduate and postgraduate students, and supervise and train the junior clinical team and specialty doctors;
  • Participate in relevant audit and quality assurance processes;
  • Liaise with clinicians and managers within and outside the department to address any issues arising that may affect the service.

About the Department

The Acute Medicine department at Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust is a dynamic and supportive team known for taking a proactive role in service development, quality improvement, and education and training. We work collaboratively with a well-established multidisciplinary team structure in our clinical areas, with daily business MDT board rounds.

Person Specification

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Full GMC Registration (with licence to practice);
  • CCT Specialist Registration or will obtain within 6 months of interview date;
  • CESR;
  • Minimum of English Level 2 (GCSE grade C or equivalent), IELTS or graduate of a UK Medical School;
  • ATLS / APLS / ALS;
  • Effective specialist clinical service experience;
  • Experience of audit and management;
  • Evidence of involving patients in practice;
  • Evidence of innovative development and implementation of guidance;
  • Proven ability to teach clinical skills within multi-disciplinary teams applying evidence-based knowledge;
  • Evidence of relevant research, publications or presentations.
