We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Planner to join our Development Planning team at Lanpro. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for delivering planning advice on planning applications and projects, developing core competencies, and technical expertise.
Key Responsibilities- Technical Expertise: Advise on planning applications and projects, developing and refining commercial management, client relationship, and business development skills.
- Team Leadership: Supervise, assist, and/or mentor team members on technical and professional development, and maintain and develop own technical expertise (CPD).
- Project Management: Review work of other professional staff, direct a small team, and/or a unique element of a project, ensuring successful outcomes for clients.
- Client Liaison: Build and consolidate networks within the industry, ensuring great client experience, whether internal or external.
- Bid and Proposal Management: Contribute to bids and project proposals, having knowledge of our markets and making suggestions for new areas of work.
- Continuous Improvement: Look to achieve continuous improvement across the services we provide to our clients through innovative approaches to ways of working, solutions, and outcomes.
- Accountability: Responsible for own budgetary, quality, safety, and timeframe targets for projects, identifying and agreeing any additional work with the Project Manager or client as appropriate.
- Health and Safety: Awareness and compliance of Health and Safety procedures to ensure projects are compliant with these.
- Project Coordination: Establish own milestones, deadlines, and team objectives, delegating responsibility to ensure projects are completed in a timely and cost-effective way.
- Stakeholder Management: Liaise with contractors, suppliers, and other third parties involved in projects to ensure both the clients' and Lanpro's interests are safeguarded.
- Planning Applications: Prepare and submit planning applications, appeals, and pre-application enquiries, conducting research and undertaking comprehensive planning appraisals to establish the development potential of sites.
- Reporting: Write high-quality reports with clear recommendations, providing guidance to engineers/architects on the production of drawings and supplemental planning information in relation to planning submissions.
- Business Development: Prepare fee proposals to generate new business, reviewing Local Planning Authority (LPA) Local Plans and their stage of production, managing community engagement committee meetings and public examinations.
- Communication: Communicate with all stakeholders involved in the planning process, negotiating positive outcomes for the client.
- Qualifications: An RTPI accredited degree or Masters in a related discipline.
- Membership: Preferably a chartered member of the Royal Town Planning Institute or be working towards it.
- Experience: Ideally at least two years post-qualification experience in a relevant role, with at least two years working in the planning industry in either the public or private sectors.
- Skills: Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, strong client liaison skills, strong negotiation skills, project management skills, strong report writing skills, and experience of delivering recommendations, and a strong understanding of the UK planning process.
