Lanpro is a leading multidisciplinary consultancy providing exceptional planning, design, and environmental services across the UK. We are seeking a commercially focused Senior Planner to join our team and support our growth.

Job Purpose: As a Senior Planner, you will be the key point of contact for clients, delivering planning advice on planning applications and projects. You will develop core competencies and technical expertise, ensuring the best outcome for clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Advise clients on planning applications and projects, developing commercial management, client relationship, and business development skills.
  • Contribute to technical excellence in the team, supervising and mentoring team members as required.
  • Review work of other professional staff, directing a small team and/or a unique element of a project.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Apply knowledge to ensure the best outcome for clients, building and consolidating networks within the industry.
  • Contribute to bids and project proposals, having knowledge of our markets and suggesting new areas of work.
  • Achieve continuous improvement across services, applying innovative approaches to ways of working, solutions, and outcomes.
  • Accountable for own budgetary, quality, safety, and timeframe targets for projects.
  • Aware of Health and Safety procedures to ensure projects are compliant.
  • Liaise with contractors, suppliers, and other third parties to safeguard clients' and Lanpro's interests.
  • Direct and monitor technical aspects of specific projects or oversee smaller projects.
  • Prepare and submit planning applications, appeals, and pre-application enquiries.
  • Conduct research and undertake comprehensive planning appraisals to identify development potential.
  • Write high-quality reports with clear recommendations.
  • Provide guidance to engineers and architects on planning submissions.
  • Prepare fee proposals to generate new business.
  • Review Local Planning Authority (LPA) Local Plans and their stage of production.
  • Manage community engagement committee meetings and public examinations.
  • Communicate with stakeholders and negotiate positive outcomes for clients.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • RTPI-accredited degree or Masters in a related discipline.
  • Chartered member of the Royal Town Planning Institute or working towards it.
  • At least two years post-qualification experience in a relevant role.
  • Two years' experience in the planning industry in the public or private sectors.

Essential Knowledge & Skills:

  • Excellent communication and written skills.
  • Strong client liaison and negotiation skills.
  • Project management skills.
  • Strong report writing skills and experience of delivering recommendations.
  • Strong understanding of the UK planning process.
