Executive Position: Technical Director - AEC

Airborne Environmental Consultants Ltd is a leading compliance consultancy for the built environment, renowned for its flexible, personable, and trustworthy approach. As we embark on our growth journey, we are seeking an accomplished technical expert to lead AEC into a new era of professional service delivery and compliance.

This pivotal board-level position comes with responsibility for line-managing senior direct reports from across the business, representing AEC at events and committees, and advising clients on highest standards of health and safety management.

The post holder will be the senior competent person appointed to provide specialist advice and leadership, ensuring AEC's compliance with HASAW Act 1974 and all other UK and EU statutory health and safety legislation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Strategy:
    • Create, design, evaluate, and communicate a clear health and safety vision, direction, and strategy that motivates and influences others.
    • Drive a culture of safety, ensuring it is a core value spoken to frequently and palpably felt throughout the company.
  • Team Building and Management:
    • Build, lead, and mentor a diverse team.
    • Foster a collaborative environment where team members are empowered to take ownership of safety initiatives.
  • Operational Excellence:
    • Oversee safety operations across all areas of our business.
    • Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations and standards.
    • Implement robust safety programmes and practices to minimise risks to occupational health and prevent injuries.
    • Identify gaps in current safety practices and develop effective solutions.
    • Monitor and analyse safety performance metrics to drive continuous improvement.
    • Analyse data relating to safety, health, and environmental risks to identify and execute improvement efforts.
    • Lead safety audits and investigations, ensuring root causes are identified and corrective actions are implemented.
    • Promote and facilitate a culture of change and improvement within the company.
  • Employee Engagement and Training:
    • Cultivate a workplace where safety is a shared responsibility and employees feel cared for.
    • Oversee communications and programmes to train managers and employees in work site safety practices.
    • Communicate safety expectations clearly and consistently, ensuring all employees understand their role in maintaining a safe work environment.
    • Represent AEC in community or industry safety groups and programmes.
    • Maintain safety files and records.
Requirements

We are seeking an individual with a minimum of 10 years of related experience in a senior health and safety role, holding a NEBOSH Diploma and CCP. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, specialised knowledge of risk management and safety practices, and proficiency in various computer applications.
