Job Title: Head Chef
This role involves leading the kitchen service and team at our residential care home. As a Head Chef, you will be responsible for providing nutritious and appetising meals and snacks for our residents while ensuring good food hygiene is maintained at all times.
The ideal candidate will have effective leadership, delegation and prioritising skills, experience of leading a kitchen, and a caring, warm and understanding approach. They will also be able to work on their own initiative as well as part of a team and have a flexible approach to working hours.
Responsibilities
- Manage the kitchen service and team to deliver high-quality meals and snacks for residents.
- Ensure good food hygiene is maintained at all times and regulations are adhered to.
- Work with the team to create a happy and caring atmosphere in the kitchen.
- Develop and implement menus that cater for different dietary requirements and preferences.
- Supervise and train kitchen staff to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their roles effectively.
Requirements
Essential:
- A compassionate and caring nature.
- Basic Food Hygiene Certificate.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to use IT systems.
- Strong management and leadership skills.
- Strong organisation and planning skills.
- Ability to prepare, cook and present a variety of appetising and nutritious home-made meals.
- An understanding of different diets and ability to cater for individuals with different dietary requirements.
- A good understanding of what good looks like in terms of the dining and food experience.
- Able to work on own initiative as well as part of a team.
- A flexible approach to working hours.
