South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a skilled and dedicated Clinical Specialist to join their Croydon CAMHS Crisis Team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for assessing and managing young people presenting at Croydon University Hospital in mental health crisis, as well as their families, carers, and related professionals.

Key responsibilities include delivering high-quality safe crisis care, ensuring consistently high standards of practice and clinical excellence, and supporting the Clinical Service Lead and peers to promote and develop excellent clinical practice.

The ideal candidate will have experience working in CAMHS or acute settings, as well as knowledge of clinical governance and audit, adult and child safeguarding, mental health legislation, and the practical application of Mental Health law.

They will also possess the ability to assess and manage high-risk adolescent clients in a variety of settings, conducting risk assessments and formulating safety plans, and be an active role in promoting mental health and well-being in young people and their families/carers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess and manage young people presenting at Croydon University Hospital in mental health crisis.
  • Deliver high-quality safe crisis care, ensuring consistently high standards of practice and clinical excellence.
  • Support the Clinical Service Lead and peers to promote and develop excellent clinical practice.
  • Conduct risk assessments and formulate safety plans for high-risk adolescent clients.
  • Be an active role in promoting mental health and well-being in young people and their families/carers.

Requirements:

  • Registered General Nurse and/or Registered Mental Nurse and/or Registered Learning Disability Nurse.
  • Experience working in CAMHS or acute settings.
  • Knowledge of clinical governance and audit, adult and child safeguarding, mental health legislation, and the practical application of Mental Health law.

Working Pattern: Full-time, Part-time, Flexible working, Compressed hours.

Salary: £51,883 to £58,544 a year per annum incl. of HCAs.
