Job Title: Financial Controller

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Financial Controller to join our client, a leading Software Development company, in Epsom. As a key member of the leadership team, you will be responsible for overseeing the financial operations of the UK office, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and providing strategic financial guidance to the MD.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Operations Management: Oversee daily financial operations, including monthly payroll, commissions, and pensions, tax withholding, and compliance with various countries' requirements.
  • Financial Reporting: Produce monthly and yearly reports, VAT returns, and reconcile UK banking.
  • Financial Liaison: Serve as a financial liaison with the leadership team, providing financial reports and operational updates.
  • Compliance: Ensure organizational compliance with external auditors and business licensing, annual report filing, corporate insurance, and reporting requirements.
  • Best Practices Alignment: Collaborate with corporate teams to align best practices and ensure adherence to company policies and legal guidelines.
  • Conflict Resolution: Address and resolve accounting-related employee disputes to maintain a professional and compliant work environment.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Work with Sales, Marketing, Technical, and other functional groups to drive growth and optimize performance.
  • Project Oversight: Participate in meetings with the parent company and other subsidiaries, overseeing implementation teams in project execution.
  • Revenue Recognition: Ensure accurate and compliant revenue recognition (ASC 606/IFRS 15) across various software product offerings, SaaS, and term licenses.

Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Fully qualified (ACCA etc)
  • 7+ years of experience
  • Experienced in revenue recognition
  • Experience in the software industry or Software as a Service (SaaS)
  • Background in a software company is ideal
  • Experience in a SME is desired
  • Understanding of corporate operations
  • Ability to work autonomously in a global client environment
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Experience working with US-based companies
