NELFT NHS Foundation Trust is a leading provider of community and mental health services in North East London, Essex, Kent, and Medway.
We are seeking an experienced Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist to join our dynamic team in Redbridge. As a clinical leader, you will play a key role in developing and delivering our Early Intervention service for pre-school children with social communication difficulties.
The successful candidate will have experience working as a Speech and Language Therapist in Mainstream schools and with pre-school children with speech language and communication difficulties, including those with Autism.
You will be responsible for assessing, diagnosing, and treating complex cases, as well as supervising other team members. Your excellent interpersonal skills, verbal and written communication skills, and ability to work effectively as a multi-disciplinary team member will be essential in this role.
Key Responsibilities
- Leading on the development and provision of an Early Intervention service for pre-school children with social communication difficulties in clinics and contributing to the Autism diagnostic pathway.
- Taking a lead role in providing and developing the SLT assessment service to school-aged children with speech, language and communication needs and an intervention service to those schools choosing to buy-in SLT in the borough of Redbridge.
- Independently managing own and others' workload in the day-to-day allocation of work.
- Working closely with clients, carers, families, and professionals to raise awareness, knowledge, and skills related to the range of strategies that improve speech, language, and communication outcomes across settings.
- Making highly specialist clinical decisions following assessment of complex cases.
- Planning and implementing specialist packages of support and intervention.
- Providing clinical support/supervision for SLTs working in clinic and mainstream school settings.
- Working in the context of a multi-disciplinary team in health, social care, and education services in Redbridge.
- Providing specialist knowledge, advice, training, and teaching to parents, carers, students, and speech and language therapy team members.
