Harewood Estate is a 4000-acre estate nestled in the Yorkshire landscape, featuring a diverse range of business interests including commercial units, residential properties, arable and livestock farming, forestry, renewable energy generation, food production, and hospitality. The estate has embarked on a major 10-year landscape and heritage restoration project, which will restore historic structures, ecosystems, and natural processes.
The ambitious project aims to create new habitats, encourage biodiversity, and enhance natural capital functions. To achieve this goal, we are looking for a skilled and dedicated Livestock Management Professional to join our team.
As a Livestock Management Professional, you will be responsible for maintaining the highest welfare, safety, and health standards of Harewood's native and rare breed livestock. This includes daily management of pedigree herds of Aberdeen Angus and Highland cattle, further development of herds using EBVs for easy calving and growth rates, and rotation of grazing and outdoor systems.
You will also be involved in livestock transportation, land management field works, and basic maintenance of building and equipment. Additionally, you will assist with construction, maintenance, and repair of fences, gates, and livestock handling pens, and comply with all legislation relating to animal management.
A competitive salary of £45,000-£55,000 per annum, depending on experience, is offered for this role. You will also receive 23 days annual leave plus bank holidays, a pension scheme, discounts and benefits with selected Harewood businesses and retail, and the opportunity to develop within the role via formal training and on-the-job learning.
