About the Role

The Harewood Estate is seeking a skilled and dedicated individual to join our team as a Livestock Manager. As a key member of our estate team, you will play a vital role in the management and development of our livestock operations, ensuring the highest welfare, safety, and health standards are maintained.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain and develop pedigree herds of Aberdeen Angus and Highland cattle, including daily management and further development using EBV's for easy calving and growth rates.
  • Develop and manage Wensleydale and Hebridean sheep, including rotation of grazing and outdoor systems, electric fencing, pasture management, and record keeping.
  • Assist with livestock feeding, winter bedding, and cleaning cattle sheds, as well as diagnosing and treating health issues and injuries.
  • Assist with land management field works, including weed control, and basic maintenance of buildings and equipment.
  • Comply with all legislation relating to animal management and assist with Countryside Stewardship work.
Requirements
  • Experience in a similar role of outdoor livestock management and husbandry, with a thorough understanding of animal health, welfare, and production practices.
  • Familiarity with rotational grazing and organic/conservation farming practices.
  • Appropriate qualification in agriculture and livestock management.
