Job Title: Mental Health Support Assistant

Location: Taunton, Somerset

Salary: £25,000 - £30,000 per annum (dependent on experience)

About the Role:

We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Mental Health Support Assistant to join our team at a special school in Taunton. The successful candidate will have knowledge and experience of working with children and young people who have complex needs or display challenging behaviour.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Supporting students with SEMH/complex needs in engagement and participation in class
  • Working under the guidance of the class teacher to enable students to access the curriculum and tailor tasks to their ability levels
  • Guiding pupils when they are struggling and helping them to become regulated and calm
  • Assisting the class teacher with pupil and classroom management

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with individuals with SEMH/complex needs
  • Right to work in the UK (Valid Visa)
  • Relevant references and DBS/police checks if necessary
