Job Summary

Catch22 is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Career Development Specialist to join our team. As a Career Development Specialist, you will play a vital role in providing tailored employability support to a caseload of young people, helping them to develop the skills and confidence needed to progress into sustainable employment and apprenticeships.

Main Responsibilities
  • Needs Assessment and Case Management

Conduct thorough needs assessments with young people to understand their barriers, career ambitions, development areas, and training opportunities. Develop and implement strategic relationships with key stakeholders to identify new employability programs.

Individualized Support and Guidance

Manage a small caseload of young people, accurately identifying their needs, challenges, career ambitions, strengths, and development areas. Provide high-quality in-work support, advice, and guidance to help young people sustain progression into apprenticeships and employment.

Group Work and Training Sessions

Deliver group work sessions on topics such as interview techniques, job searches, CV improvements, and confidence building. Prepare young people for interviews with employers and provide ongoing support to help them achieve their career goals.

Goal-Focused Action Planning

Develop and implement goal-focused action plans for young people, preparing CVs, cover letters, job/apprenticeship application forms, and job packs. Undertake job searches with participants and arrange interviews where appropriate.

Community Outreach and Engagement

Develop strategic relationships with key stakeholders and engage with the local community to identify young people for employability programs. Support the delivery of events, job fairs, workshops, and seminars to promote our services and support young people in their career development.

Reporting and Data Management

Collate, complete, and demonstrate case studies, monitor, and data inputting to ensure timely input and communication of key documents and information. Ensure high contractual compliance standards and effective delivery of operational KPI targets.

Requirements
  • 5 GCSE's at Grade C or above, or equivalent.
  • Good ICT skills including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to gain people's confidence and put them at ease.
  • Flexible, adaptable, persuasive, and patient, with a positive approach to problem-solving and a can-do attitude.
  • Target and results-driven, with good organizational and administrative skills, and the ability to prioritize.
  • Able to effectively cope with pressure, working to deadlines to produce reports.
  • Experience of working in the employment sector.
