About the Role

As a Deputy Manager, you will work closely with the Registered Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of the home, ensuring that young people receive a high standard of support and care. Your key responsibilities will include:

  1. Supervising and supporting Key/Support Workers to ensure they are equipped to provide excellent care and support to young people.
  2. Assisting the Registered Manager with the management of the home, including quality of care, recruitment, training, communication, and financial matters.
  3. Recognizing and assessing individual needs, involving relevant professional agencies and relatives to develop personalized care plans.
  4. Providing high-quality personal care and attention to young people, following individual care plans and ensuring all interactions are polite, friendly, and supportive.
  5. Promoting the social and emotional well-being and development of young people.
  6. Ensuring compliance with statutory and legal requirements, including Ofsted, COSHH, Health and Safety, and the Health & Social Care Act.
  7. Updating risk assessments and informing staff of any changes to health and safety legislation.
  8. Supporting the Registered Manager in ensuring compliance with environmental health, infection control, building control, planning, and health and safety regulations.
  9. Staying up-to-date with national standards, related legislation, and inspection frameworks; contributing to inspections by Ofsted and other professionals.
  10. Following individual care plans and administering medication as prescribed, maintaining accurate records.
  11. Establishing and maintaining effective communication and relationships with young people, relatives, and external professionals.
  12. Supporting the Registered Manager with staffing requirements, including recruitment and training needs identification.
  13. Assisting young people with personal financial arrangements, maintaining confidentiality and honesty in all transactions.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  1. At least 2 years of experience in residential childcare.
  2. A Level 3 Diploma for the Children and Young People's Workforce or equivalent.
  3. Experience in child protection.
  4. Leadership and staff supervision skills.
  5. Well-developed written and verbal communication skills.
  6. Ability to manage budgets and staff rotas.
  7. Project management skills and a proactive, solution-focused approach.
  8. Commitment to ongoing personal development.
