Social Media Content Specialist Job Description

MailOnline, the world’s largest English-language newspaper website, is seeking a skilled Social Media Content Specialist to join its industry-leading social team. The ideal candidate will assist the UK Head of Social in scheduling and posting content on all Mail Sport social feeds and channels, as well as the main MailOnline social platforms.

Responsibilities:

  • Research and find the latest news and viral trends ahead of competitors.
  • Cover live sporting events and breaking news on existing and emerging social media platforms.
  • Create engaging content, including captions, headlines, and thumbnails, to drive article traffic to the five million Facebook audience.
  • Identify new trends, platforms, and initiatives to enhance the Mail Sport brand.
  • Work across a seven-day rota and cover live events as they happen.
  • Monitor article traffic using social media analysis tools and report back to the wider team.

Requirements:

  • Prior experience working with social platforms and crowdsourcing or managing social media platforms for a digital media publication is preferable.
  • Comfortable working across all sections of MailOnline's editorial content alongside sport.
  • Ability to gather and analyse social media data and analytics.
  • Good use of Adobe, including Photoshop.
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills.
  • Understanding of all social media platforms, including Facebook, X, Instagram, Whatsapp, and other websites.
  • Must be able to come to the office four to five days per week.
