About the Role

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Special Needs Teaching Assistant to join our team at an Ofsted-rated "Good" Secondary School in York, North Yorkshire.

The successful candidate will work closely with a certified teacher to conduct learning activities, differentiate and tailor curricula to meet the needs of assigned students with special needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Under the expert guidance and supervision of a certified teacher, conduct learning activities and create and assess specialised learning activities.
  • Work with students on care or therapy plans and encourage students to collaborate and communicate with one another.
  • Participate in creating, organizing, and carrying out students' individual development plans.
  • Monitor students' behavior and conduct and take action to address any complex, hard, or challenging issues.
Requirements
  • Must hold the Right to Work in the UK.
  • Relevant qualifications in education or SEN support (e.g., Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant qualification).
  • Training in behavior management and de-escalation techniques is desirable.
  • Experience working with children who have a variety of disabilities and/or learning difficulties, or an eagerness to go through training.
  • Be aware of and knowledgeable about different additional needs such as ASC, ADHD, MLD, and SEMH.
  • Confident in the delivery of pre-planned lessons and interventions.
