About the Role:

Austin Fraser is seeking an experienced Senior Engineering Manager to join their team. As a key member of the engineering department, you will be responsible for leading and developing a team of engineers to ensure the smooth operation of Magnesium production activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Health & Safety Leadership: Ensure a safe working environment by implementing and maintaining high health and safety standards across all activities.
  2. Team Leadership & Accountability: Develop and lead a high-performing team of engineers, promoting a culture of continuous improvement and adherence to company values.
  3. Production Support: Collaborate with operations managers to optimize Magnesium production processes, ensuring timely completion of activities while maintaining quality and safety standards.
  4. Training & Development: Allocate time for training and personal development among engineering personnel, including internal auditing, housekeeping, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  5. Performance Reporting: Assist in compiling and reporting key performance indicators (KPIs) to stakeholders, including financial, operational, HSE, quality, and HR metrics.
  6. Communication & Engagement: Ensure effective communication with the engineering team on important matters, including daily briefs, weekly newsletters, and employee updates.
  7. Agility & SAP Transactions: Oversee accurate and prompt execution of engineering Agility transactions, aiming for real-time or shift-end completion.
  8. Cover for Maintenance Manager: Provide coverage for the Maintenance Manager's duties when required, ensuring continuity of operations and decision-making.
  9. Other Duties: Perform additional responsibilities as needed, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability.

Requirements:

  • Education: 5 GCSEs at grade C/4 or above, including Science, Mathematics, and English.
  • Qualifications: Level 3 or higher qualification in engineering, science, or a related discipline.
  • Leadership: Supervisory or leadership qualification such as ILM or equivalent.
  • Experience:
    1. Proven experience in an engineering environment.
    2. Management experience with staff and teams.
    3. CMMS experience.
    4. Problem-solving and improvement activities in multifunctional teams.
    5. Direct experience driving business cultural change.

Salary & Benefits:

A competitive salary up to £50,000, commensurate with experience, along with opportunities for career advancement within Austin Fraser and bonus eligibility.
