We are seeking a skilled Laboratory Technician to join our team at RPS Group. This is a full-time, permanent position with a fixed working pattern of 8am to 4pm, Monday to Friday.

This role requires someone to provide laboratory support to our technical teams, ensuring smooth operations through effective management of waste and disposals, deliveries, and consumables stocks.

Our laboratories enjoy an international reputation for solving complex and novel analytical problems in various food, feed, and forage crops.

Key Responsibilities

  • Receiving and unpacking deliveries of consumables and chemicals throughout the day.
  • Maintaining a working stock of consumables, reagents, and chemicals, including receipt, logging in, and ordering to replenish stock levels.
  • Preparing sampling kits, including addition of preservatives, and disposing of any unused kits safely following laboratory procedures.
  • Keeping up-to-date records on the chemical inventory.
  • Assisting with performing a range of laboratory checks.

Requirements

  • An interest in science, preferably with qualifications related to the science field.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision independently as well as part of a team.
  • Previous experience of working in a laboratory setting would be advantageous.

Health and Safety

  • Handling of foods, including nuts.
  • Working in cold environments.
  • Exposure to noise.
  • Operating machinery.
