The Cellular Pathology team at Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Trust has a vacancy for an experienced State Registered Biomedical Scientist or Specialist BMS, banding and pay dependent on qualifications, knowledge, and experience. The successful candidate will be well-motivated, experienced, and an enthusiastic State Registered BMS to join our busy, but friendly team.
Main ResponsibilitiesThe post holder will assist in the day-to-day operations and technical aspects of the service. They will assist the senior laboratory BMS in the delivery of a high-quality, efficient, and effective service, through the Quality Management System [QMS]. They will assist in the implementation of change as directed by the laboratory seniors/manager, when delegated or appropriate to service needs.
The post holder is expected to implement policies and procedures ensuring that the service complies with current UKAS standards, national, and European legislation, and discipline-specific regulatory bodies. They will assist in the training and development of scientific and support staff.
Person SpecificationEssential criteria:
- Significant specialist knowledge of Cellular Pathology techniques acquired over a significant period within a UK laboratory
- BSc in Biomedical Sciences or equivalent and demonstrable experience at BMS level
- HCPC State Registration
Desirable criteria:
- Audit and evaluation, clinical & information governance
- Master's degree or related professional healthcare qualification (FIBMS or Chartered Scientist) or equivalent
