Leading Renal and Urology Nursing Professional

An exciting opportunity has emerged for an exceptional nursing leader to join the senior leadership team at Kings College Hospital, a leading UK teaching trust.
Job OverviewThe Head of Nursing will work collaboratively with the General Manager and senior nursing team, reporting to the Clinical Director and providing professional accountability to the Site Director of Nursing. We encourage applications from all sections of the community, particularly from under-represented groups, to enhance diversity within our senior leadership team.
Key Responsibilities- In conjunction with the Clinical Director, General Manager, and his/her team, agree on the strategic direction of the Care Group to align plans with the trust's values and principles in implementing the national policy agenda.
This role requires a budgetary and financial management expert to be responsible for the nursing budget within the Care Group, ensuring each specialty manages and has effective budgetary control.
The successful candidate will work closely with the Site Director of Nursing and senior nursing colleagues to carry out 6 monthly skill mix reviews as required by the Chief Nurse/Corporate Director of Nursing, ensuring established figures meet the needs of the Care Group.
Additionally, this role involves policy development, education, research, and audit responsibilities, working with the Director of Nursing & corporate nursing to ensure the continued development of nursing practice taking account of research and development within the framework of the nursing and midwifery strategy.
A key focus area is risk management and quality, working closely with the General Manager, Clinical Director, and Clinical Governance lead to develop an integrated strategy for clinical governance with a specific focus on all aspects of clinical and non-clinical risk management.
Person Specification- Registered Nurse (1st level registration)
- Higher professional or management degree master's level or equivalent experience
- Evidence of continuous professional development
- Extensive management and leadership experience at or near board level
- Demonstrate a full expert understanding of current issues within nursing, specifically within the speciality and nursing as a whole
- Possess a vision for nursing and secure the active commitment of multidisciplinary staff in working towards achieving this
- Evidence of delivering nursing performance including safer staffing, skill mix reviews, infection control, risk management, complaints, and Adverse Incidents
- Proven management skills demonstrated by successful resource management in a changing environment with a direct approach to problem-solving
- Evidence of ability to manage a substantial budget within financial limits
- Strong organisational ability and well-developed resource and staff management skills, able to forecast and plan
- Ability to manage and deliver complex and changing workload, which includes identifying and resolving conflicting priorities within tight timescales
- Experience of working with diverse stakeholders, such as KHP and Clinical Academic Group, with a successful track record of influence and engagement
- Ability to develop networks and partnerships as required
- Ability to demonstrate possession of excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to use them to motivate and develop staff
- Experience of working and delivering Trust-wide professional nursing objectives
- Understanding of the local health economy
We offer a competitive salary range of £82,462 - £93,773 per annum, including HCA, reflecting the demands of this challenging role.
