Job Title: Head of Manufacturing Quality

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Head of Manufacturing Quality to join our team at Laing O'Rourke's Centre of Excellence for Modern Construction in Steetley, Nottinghamshire. As a key member of our quality team, you will be responsible for managing and continually improving the product quality performance across all areas of the manufacturing facility.

About the Role:
  • Provide quality support to core teams within the manufacturing facility and serve as the main product quality contact for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Promote a culture of quality and excellence within the organization, identifying key risk areas and opportunities for improvement, and driving action to address these areas.
  • Represent quality in various meetings, including internal, supplier, and client meetings.
  • Develop and monitor quality performance through effective and reliable reporting.
  • Support the development and provision of inspection and testing plans and manufacturing execution documents to ensure suitability prior to commencement of works.
  • Ensure progressive assurance and delivery of quality records.
  • Support production teams by providing training and guidance on quality topics and lessons learned from events.
  • Undertake regular surveillance to oversee the quality of works and intervene when necessary.
  • Manage the quality function, covering quality inspectors, lab personnel, and production engineers, following the Laing O'Rourke Inclusive Leadership model.
Requirements:
  • Excellent knowledge of concrete products and quality standards, or alternative building materials backgrounds.
  • Experience in quality management in a complex manufacturing facility or construction/engineering projects.
  • Good understanding of client quality requirements within the construction industry.
  • Practical experience in generating and maintaining key quality documents, such as inspection and test plans, project quality plans, and standard operating procedures.
  • Experience with key quality tools, including root-cause analysis, problem-solving methodologies, and corrective/preventive action.
