About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Volunteer Befriender to join our team at Rethink Mental Illness. As a Volunteer Befriender, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals with mental health needs in the London Borough of Brent.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide befriending support to individuals, offering emotional support and companionship
  • Support individuals to access and build social and community networks and activities
  • Act as a community connector to local services, helping individuals to access resources and services
  • Meet with individuals in locations and times that meet their needs, including evenings and weekends

Requirements

  • Have lived experience of mental illness, either as a carer or as a person who has experienced their own mental health needs
  • Have good communication skills and be able to build rapport with individuals
  • Be flexible and able to meet the needs of individuals
  • Live within the London Borough of Brent
