Job Title: Database Performance Specialist

Lancashire Constabulary's Scientific Support Department is seeking a skilled professional to join their team as a Database Performance Specialist. The successful candidate will be based at Hutton Headquarters, which is easily accessible by public transport and offers free car parking on site.

The Database Performance Specialist will be responsible for dealing with a variety of evidence types, processing and examining exhibits as part of casework for biological and trace material in both laboratory and crime scene environments. They will develop complex forensic strategies, carry out complex casework examinations, and provide expert evidence at court when required.

The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills and be able to maintain accurate computerized records involving financial information and performance data. They will also be required to multitask and manage their workload effectively, with the ability to work to short turnaround times to meet custody deadlines.

Applicants must have a full driving licence and be willing to provide elimination DNA and fingerprint samples. The successful candidate will receive on-the-job training, either in-house or at a neighbouring force, and will follow a structured training plan that includes shadowing other staff, mentoring, and demonstrating competence assessments.

The Database Performance Specialist will be required to learn Lancashire procedures and undertake assessments, including an expert witness assessment. They will also be involved in inputting data on ISO accreditation and the Forensic Science Regulator's Code of Practice.

Candidates applying for Lancashire Constabulary should be aware that the use of online 'Artificial Intelligence' (AI) systems to generate application answers is not permitted. Any candidate found to have submitted an application form using online 'AI' software will be removed from the recruitment process with immediate effect.

Candidates successful at shortlisting will be required to undertake an assessment as part of the interview process. This will consist of an Aptitude Test.
