End of Life Care Service Coordinator

We are seeking an experienced and compassionate individual to develop, embed, and manage a new End of Life volunteering service across UHBW. As End of Life Care Service Coordinator, you will work in partnership with Voluntary Services and End of Life Care Leads to establish a dedicated End of Life Care Volunteer programme.
The successful candidate will be responsible for recruiting, training, managing, and supervising a team of End-of-Life Care Volunteers. They will also coordinate the operational day-to-day activity of the end-of-life volunteers in our hospitals, working alongside clinical teams and the specialist palliative care team to identify patients who would benefit from support.
Key responsibilities include:
- To establish the End of Life Care Volunteer service within the hospital setting, supporting patients and those closest to them, who are approaching the end of their lives.
- To co-ordinate the operational day-to-day activity of the end-of-life volunteers in our hospitals, working alongside clinical teams and the specialist palliative care team to identify patients who would benefit from support.
- To ensure the End-of-Life Care Volunteer service project team meetings run effectively, including providing administrative support.
- To establish and embed a service that has long term sustainability.
Job Specifications:
- GCSE (or equivalent) in maths and English or equivalent experience.
- NVQ level 3 Customer Care or equivalent qualification or experience.
- Excellent customer service experience including handling queries, complaints, and sensitive information.
- Knowledge of Equality & Diversity legislation in relation to recruitment.
- Previous experience of volunteering or working with volunteers.
- Previous experience of teaching/training either in a group setting or one-to-one.
- Knowledge of end of life or palliative care, acquired through study or personal or professional experience.
- Proven ability to use Microsoft Office and related packages, including spreadsheets, databases and inputting and updating electronic information accurately.
- Ability to work alone with minimal supervision and manage own workload effectively.
- Willingness to travel off-site to meet community/voluntary groups if needed.
- Awareness of policy issues around end-of-life care.
Salary Information: The salary for this role is £35,000 - £42,000 per annum, dependent on experience.
