About the Role

The Birmingham Children's Trust is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Family Support Specialist to join our Families Together Service. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality support to children, young people, and their families.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver evidence-based interventions to promote positive change and safeguard the welfare of children and young people.
  • Work collaboratively with children, young people, and families to achieve family outcomes from the Think Family Criteria.
  • Establish a high standard of practice in the Families Together space, providing a timely response to children, young people, and their families.
  • Act as a champion in a specific practice area, such as domestic abuse, parental conflict, mental health, or substance misuse, supporting the delivery of workshops and providing advice and support where relevant.
  • Maintain and improve practice and performance in line with professional development targets, as agreed with the line manager through supervision.

Requirements

  • NVQ level four or equivalent qualification.
  • Experience of working in a multi-agency forum and jointly working with families in statutory services.
  • Good report writing and record keeping skills, with the ability to account for decisions taken and interventions provided.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work closely with colleagues within the Trust and support social care colleagues in delivering targeted interventions.
