The Role
We're currently seeking an experienced Account Manager to join our team in Oxford/Swindon area. As a key member of our business development team, you will be responsible for building strong relationships with our customers, identifying new opportunities, and driving revenue growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as lead point of contact for all customer account management matters;
- Build trust levels and long-lasting relationships with purchasing, technical, and logistics departments of our customers;
- Understand contract specifications/requirements and follow guidelines as indicated by the DP World customer interface;
- Support preparation of pricing, cost estimates, and commercial-related documents as part of the quotation response package;
- Defend pricing to DP World internal staff and customers;
- Evaluate customer needs and develop customized solutions to meet their objectives;
- Identify new business opportunities and develop strategies to capture them;
- Maintain accurate records of customer interactions, sales pipeline, and other relevant metrics;
- Collaborate with senior management to set sales targets, develop business plans, and implement growth strategies;
- Pursue continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency, reduce costs, and improve customer satisfaction.
Requirements:
- Degree-educated in related disciplines (finance, marketing, or similar);
- Proven experience in account management, including use of pricing templates, cost databases, and other supporting tools;
- Excellent knowledge of the automotive industry, services, and products in the sector, market-specific requirements, and procedures;
- A good understanding of production and logistics channel processes and their costs;
- Effective interpersonal skills, with proficient oral and written communication across all levels;
- Highly customer-focused, with ability to build effective relationships with key stakeholders;
- Ability to empathize and understand client viewpoint and requirements, acting as their champion within the DP World internal organization;
- Ability to interpret data and derive solid conclusions from analysis;
- Strong IT skills, particularly MS Excel and PowerPoint;
- Able to create structure and organization within a fast-moving environment;
- Sound commercial awareness;
- Able to cope with time pressure and has flexibility and willingness to see the job through;
- Willingness to travel between locations within Oxford, Swindon, and the Midlands;
- Bilingual would be highly desirable with German language skills.
Compensation and Benefits:
DP World offers a competitive salary ranging from £60,000 to £80,000 depending on experience, plus additional benefits, including health insurance, retirement plan, paid vacation time, and professional development opportunities.
