Job Summary:

The Education Authority is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Building Supervisor to join our team. As a key member of our facilities management team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our buildings and premises.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise and coordinate the work of cleaning staff to ensure that Education Authority standards are met.
  • Plan and organize cleaning schedules, including daily, weekly, and monthly tasks.
  • Monitor and maintain the condition of buildings, including reporting any defects or issues to the designated line manager.
  • Ensure that all external surface drains and gullies are free flowing and clean.
  • Provide an ongoing cleaning service to deal with spillages, flooding, and other cleaning problems.
  • Assist with the setting out and removal of tables and chairs for after-school activities.
  • Transport all refuse bins to and from their collection point.
  • Organize the employment of outside contractors or workmen as authorized by the designated line manager.
  • Complete all paperwork associated with the post and write reports as required.
  • Maintain records of consumable stocks and inventory of equipment.

Requirements:
  • Experience in a similar role or in a related field.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Physical fitness to perform manual tasks.
  • Basic knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems.

Training and Development:
  • Building supervisors will accept any training to facilitate the undertaking of duties for jobs up to and including their own grade.
  • Building supervisors will accept training for jobs graded at higher levels than their own.
  • Building supervisors will carry out induction and refresher training of cleaning staff.

Working Conditions:

The successful candidate will be required to work in a fast-paced environment and be able to adapt to changing circumstances. They will also be required to work at heights and in confined spaces.
