We are seeking an exceptional Palliative Medicine Consultant to join our team at Princess Alice Hospice. As a key member of our medical team, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the development of our palliative services.
Key Responsibilities- Provide medical leadership and expertise to our multidisciplinary team, ensuring the delivery of excellent patient care and outcomes.
- Conduct holistic assessments and develop comprehensive management plans for patients, working closely with the MPT and other healthcare professionals.
- Participate in the weekly in-patient ward round and provide medical leadership when needed, ensuring seamless communication and collaboration with the team.
- Work closely with external healthcare professionals, including GPs, district nurses, and hospital specialists, to provide support, advice, and continuity of care.
- Manage hospice patients within an MPT approach, providing urgent and planned medical reviews as needed, and maintaining accurate and clear clinical records.
- Support and address the needs of carers and families, communicating with them as necessary and ensuring continuity of care.
- Participate in audit, research, and educational activities, contributing to the development of our palliative services and maintaining up-to-date clinical knowledge and skills.
- MB BS or equivalent qualification.
- MRCGP or MRCP or equivalent qualification.
- On the Specialist Register for Palliative Medicine (or within 3 months of their CCT date at the time of interview).
- Full GMC registration and licence to practice.
- Subscription to a defence union.
- Fitness to practise: applicants' knowledge is up to date and has evidence of being fit to practice safely through appraisal/revalidation.
