Job Summary

Adecco is seeking a skilled Welfare and Engagement Officer to join North Wales Police. This role will be based in Colwyn Bay, working Monday to Friday office hours. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing support to a designated area of the workforce, delivering critical incident debriefings, and resolving welfare issues.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Deliver critical incident debriefings and provide welfare support to individuals within an area of the Force.
  2. Maintain visibility on wellbeing issues, gather intelligence, and provide feedback on welfare and wellbeing support.
  3. Build partnerships with managers to support delivery of the Wellbeing Strategy, including delivering promotional activity, training, or briefings as required.
  4. Act as a point of contact for arranging local wellbeing and welfare events in liaison with the Force Wellbeing Lead.
  5. Provide a 24/7 on-call service to respond to critical incidents as part of a rota.
Requirements
  • Experience and understanding of traumatic situations and their potential impact on individuals.
  • Ability to build rapport and engage with individuals and teams at all levels.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Experience of providing welfare and wellbeing support within a Blue Light/Armed Forces environment.
  • Understanding of mental health and wellbeing issues and the factors that contribute to these.
  • Understanding and application of confidentiality.
  • Experience of delivering training, briefings, and awareness sessions to a variety of different people and groups.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage a busy workload and prioritise effectively.
  • Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.
  • Good record keeping skills and attention to detail.
  • Must be a qualified Critical Incident Debriefer and be willing to successfully complete the North Wales Police training.
  • Must have completed Mental Health First Aid training (or equivalent) and be willing to successfully complete the North Wales Police programme to become a trainer for Mental Health First Aid training.
  • Good IT skills, including evidence of use of Microsoft Office programs.
  • Full driving licence and ability to travel within the Force area.
  • You must have lived in the UK for at least the last 5 years due to Police Criteria in order to apply for this role.
