About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Care Worker to join our team at Rosmead Healthcare Ltd.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supporting Residents: To work as part of a team to maintain the personal care needs of residents, respecting their dignity and promoting independence.
- Quality Care: To ensure that care services are consistently provided to a high quality standard.
- Environment and Activities: To assist in the care of the residents' physical environment and in the general day-to-day activities of the care home.
Organisational Responsibilities:
- Teamwork: To work as part of an efficient team and contribute to the smooth running of the Care Home.
- Development: To continue professional development through attending and contributing to internal and external training and development, meetings and supervisions.
- Health and Safety: To comply with Rosmead Healthcare's Health and Safety policy and procedures at all times.
- Professional Representation: To represent Rosmead Healthcare in a professional and positive manner at all times and in all communications with residents, visitors, and staff.
- Confidentiality: To maintain confidentiality regarding all issues and information relating to residents and the Home.
Functional Responsibilities:
- Personal Care: To ensure the highest standards of care are maintained by supporting residents with all personal care and activities of daily living.
- Assistance: To assist residents with limited mobility or physical disabilities, making the best use of mobility aids and personal equipment provided.
- Domestic Tasks: To undertake various domestic tasks to assist in the smooth running of the Care Home.
- Monitoring: To closely monitor residents who may be confused and/or have behaviours that may challenge.
- Terminally Ill Residents: To assist in the delivery of care for residents who are terminally ill or who have a progressive illness.
- Social Activities: To assist in social activities by interacting with residents and helping them continue hobbies and activities in the Care Home to enhance quality of life.
- Key Worker: To act as a key worker to a number of residents and be responsible for the care of those persons' rooms, clothing, and emotional needs.
- Protection: To contribute to the protection of vulnerable adults from abuse.
- Temporary Illness: To care for residents who may be temporarily sick and needing assistance with changing dressing under the supervision of your line manager.
- Meal Times: To assist at meal times and with assisted feeds when a resident may require help.
- Communication: To answer the nurse call, telephones, take and pass on accurate messages to the Line Manager.
- Resident Checks: To carry out regular checks on residents to ensure their health, safety, and well-being.
- Equipment Maintenance: To ensure all equipment is clean and well maintained.
- Quality of Care: To provide resident care in support of a registered nurse to ensure delivery of a high quality of resident care.
- Record Keeping: To record and report resident observations in care plans to ensure maintenance of accurate and up to date records.
- Safe Working Practices: To work within Care Home policies/procedures to ensure maintenance of safe working practices for residents and other colleagues.
- Security: To follow security procedures in order to ensure the safety of residents, visitors, belongings, and the property as a whole.
Required Competencies:
Communication:
- Professional Representation: To professionally represent Rosmead Healthcare in all dealings with individuals and external contacts.
- Verbal and Written Communication: Good verbal and written communication skills with the ability to accurately complete care plans and maintain up to date information.
- Personal Contact: To maintain personal contact with clients through individual and group discussion/interaction under direct or indirect supervision from qualified staff.
- Good Working Relationships: Co-operate and maintain good working relationships with other colleagues that are attending and treating clients to maximize resident care.
- Resident Relationships: Maintain good relationships and an empathetic and professional approach to residents and relatives.
- Effective Communication: Experience of communicating effectively with residents, partners, stakeholders, and other relevant bodies.
Knowledge and Qualifications:
- Caring Experience: Have experience of caring for people e.g. raising a family, caring for elderly relatives, voluntary or paid experience of challenging behavior.
- Training and Development: Be willing to train and work towards an NVQ level 2.
- Empathy and Understanding: Ability to show empathy, understanding, and experience of the needs of the residents.
- Time Management: Well-developed time management skills with the ability to work under pressure.
- Decision Making: Ability to make balanced, clear, and timely decisions.
- Consultation and Decision Making: Takes a proactive approach to consulting and involving in decision-making processes as appropriate.
- Food Hygiene: Knowledge of food hygiene preparation or a willingness to learn.
- Mandatory Training: Undertake mandatory training.
- Specialist Training: Undertake training in specialist subjects.
